چکیده
We study optical-feedback effects using an integrated laser-modulator/amplifier. Our experiment and theory are agree well and provide interesting results of feedback effects on optical spectrum, spatial-hole burning, the photon density profile, and the microwave modulation. A widely-tunable high-speed transmitter using an integrated SGDBR laser-Semiconductor Optical Amplifier and Mach- Zehnder modulator
The first integrated SGDBR laser/Semiconductor Optical Amplifier-MachZehnder modulator transmitter is presented. Devices have 3dB bandwidth ranging from 1318GHz corresponding to electrodes lengths that range between 200-300um long. This corresponds to a Vpi of 4.8-6.2V Fig. 1 MZ-SOA-SGDBR layout
متن کاملThe Effects of Strained Multiple Quantum Well on the Chirped DFB-SOA All Optical Flip-Flop
In this paper, based on the coupled-mode and carrier rate equations, a dynamic model and numerical analysis of a multi quantum well (MQW) chirped distributed feedback semiconductor optical amplifier (DFB-SOA) all-optical flip-flop is precisely derived. We have analyzed the effects of strains of QW and MQW and cross phase modulation (XPM) on the dynamic response, and rise and fall times of the ...
متن کاملSampled-grating DBR laser integrated with SOA and tandem electroabsorption modulator for chirp-control - Electronics Letters
Chirp-controlled optical modulation is demonstrated using a voltage division scheme applied to a long-section phase modulator to compensate for the positive chirp of an electroabsorption modulator arranged in a tandem configuration. Both modulators are integrated with a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) and a sampled-grating distributed Bragg reflector (DBR) laser. The effective chirp facto...
متن کاملPhotonic integrated circuits based on quantum well intermixing techniques
The passive sections of a monolithic device must have a wider bandgap than the active regions to reduce losses due to direct interband absorption. Such bandgap engineering is usually realized by complicated regrown butt-joint or selective-area growth techniques. We, however, have developed a simple, flexible and low-cost alternative technique – quantum well intermixing (QWI) – to increase the b...
متن کاملA Novel Resistive Capacitive Feedback Trans-impedance Amplifier Optimization Using IPSO Algorithm
A novel low noise trans-impedance amplifier is proposed using low cost 0.18 µm CMOS technology. A resistive-capacitive feedback is used to extend the bandwidth of the amplifier. As the structure is inductor less, it is suitable for low cost integrated optical interconnects. In this paper Improved Particle Swarm Optimization have applied to determine optimal trans-resistance and noise of propose...
